On June 11, 2012, my mentors, Andrew Sallans and Carly Strasser, and I had our first face-to-face meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.<\/p>\n
We discussed the bullet points found below for week 1. My main charge for this first week is to learn as much as I can about the DMPTool, its user groups, and those various groups of people who have contributed and are contributing to it.\u00a0 I realized that this tool is actually much more complex than I initially anticipated, as it is by nature, a collaborative and iterative tool.\u00a0 I look forward to digging in and figuring out where I can make improvements and enhance the services that it already offers.<\/p>\n
While in Albuquerque, I was also lucky enough to take part in the opening dinner of a week-long DataONE workshop.\u00a0 I had not yet been in a room full of people interested in and working on data management related projects, and it was definitely inspiring and exciting!<\/p>\n
Week 1 \u2013 June 11-15<\/p>\n
Based on this list, as I look forward to the weeks to come, I am most excited about working with the UX team and learning more about user testing.\u00a0 I think developing skills in designing and conducting usability tests for the tools we are creating is incredibly important for academic librarians working in data management and curation services.<\/p>\n
Looks like its going to be a productive summer!<\/p>\n
